Traveling Abroad

In spring of 2019 I partnered with EF Tours to create an international travel experience for students. Our first excursion is a language immersion tour, lasting 9 days in the French cities of Nice and Paris. Unfortunately, my planned travel with EF Tours has been impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

As a travel enthousiast, I believe that providing these opportunities as an extracurricular activity for students is extremely beneficial and allows them the chance to put our classroom skills to work in the real world.

Traveling the world has had a positive impact on my life and I hope to provide this same experience to students.

*Mr. Bracken's trips are currently non-school sponsored events; participation is voluntary. All tours are operated by EF Tours based in Boston, MA.

The Benefits of Travel
and why I provide these opportunities to students
NEW EXPERIENCES
Traveling to new places provides for an abundant amount of new experiences. Trying new foods, speaking a non-native language, and adapting to a new way of life - these are all possible experiences that students can have abroad.

With EF Tours, you will also get to engage in culturally relevant activities that you've maybe never done before like playing authentic games with locals, going on nature walks with native tour guides, or completing a city-wide scavenger hunt in a foreign country!
CREATE CONNECTIONS
Not only does travel allow for you to meet new people from other countries, it also allows you to make connections with other people from your own country!

Whether you're communicating with locals during a daily market challenge, learning a dance from one of the country's best dancers, or having a new experience with a new (or old) friend from home, these connections and memories will last forever!
LEARN AND GROW
Seeing new countries and new cultures close up is one of the best learning experiences the world has to offer. Having a chance to "live and breathe" in another culture allows students to see similarities and differences of global populations. Not only that, but it also teaches students that though we may live different lifestyles from one culture to another, we are all still human beings.

Traveling changes people!

Personal Travel Experience
I have been fortunate enough to travel to over 20 countries and almost every U.S. state! I've had good and bad travel experiences but in all cases I have learned not only about the cultures and places of the world, but also about who I am as a person!

One of my biggest aspirations as a teacher is to inspire students to see the world !
